To access the Ambient Air Quality monitoring of Sankari crystalline Limestone Mining areas in Salem District of Tamil Nadu, India, this study was conducted during the year 2018 to 2019. A total of ten (10) locations were selected in the study area for ambient air quality monitoring for five pollutants mainly particulate Matter less than 10 µ sizes (PM10), Particulate Matter less than 2.5 µ size (PM2.5), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and Ozone (O3). The study revealed that the average concentration of gaseous pollutants i.e. NO2, SO2, and O3 in ambient air are well within standard limits at all selected locations however particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5) levels were found to exceed national Ambient Air Quality Standards 2009 at all monitoring locations. The Air Quality Index was poor (Alathur-209.56 and Karumapurathanur-203.39) at two locations, moderate (Virachipalayam-198.12, Pallakkapalayam-137.46, Chinnagundanur-165.45, Devannagoundanur − 174.24, Sanniyasipatti 142. 61, Arasiramani 184.41) at six locations and satisfactory (Padaiveedu-95.02, Sankari − 68.37) at two locations in the Sankari areas. Overall ambient Air Quality monitoring of Sankari areas was observed to be moderate during this study span.
