Teachers play a critical role in facilitating the career and life planning of secondary school students. This paper describes the development of the Career-Related Teacher Support Scale (Hong Kong Secondary Students Form). Based on data obtained from 493 students in Hong Kong, five types of career-related teacher support were identified with the most important form of support being teachers' knowledge about the world of work and study path requirements. A correlation model yielded the best fit to the data. No variance in response pattern appeared across genders, and the new scale was found to have good validity and reliability. Cet article décrit le développement de l'échelle Career-Related Teacher Support Scale (Hong Kong Secondary Students Form). Sur la base des données obtenues auprès de 493 étudiantes à Hong Kong, cinq types de soutien des enseignantes liés à la carrière ont été identifiés, la forme de soutien la plus importante étant les connaissances des enseignantes sur le monde du travail et les exigences des filières d'études. Un modèle de corrélation s'est avéré le mieux adapté aux données. Aucune variance dans le modèle de réponse n'est apparue entre les sexes, et la nouvelle échelle s'est avérée avoir une bonne validité et fiabilité.

Mahasiswa ialah salah satu tiang yang sangat berarti dalam siklus hidup suatu Universitas. Jumlah kelulusan suatu Universitas sering kali mempunyai perbandingan yang kecil bila dibanding dengan jumlah mahasiswa yang diperoleh pada tahun akademik yang serupa. Tingkatan kelulusan mahasiswa yang kecil ini bisa disebabkan oleh sebagian aspek, seperti banyaknya aktivitas kemahasiswaan yang diiringi oleh aspek ekonomi, serta aspek – aspek lainnya. Perihal ini membuat sesuatu Universitas wajib mempunyai desain ataupun metode yang bisa memperhitungkan apakah mahasiswa itu bisa lulus dengan durasi yang sesuai. Salah satu faktor yang mendukung keberhasilan di dalam Univeritas adalah mahasiswa yang lulus dengan durasi yang sesuai. Semakin banyak mahasiswa yang lulus dengan durasi yang sesuai (dalam hal ini untuk sarjana yaitu <= 8 semester), harus berbanding yang sama atau lebih tinggi terhadap jumlah mahasiswa yang masuk pada suatu Universitas. Jika jumlah mahasiswa yang tidak lulus dengan durasi yang sesuai lebih tinggi, maka dapat menyebabkan lonjakan peningkatan jumlah data akademis dari semua mahasiswa yang masih terdaftar sehingga akan mempengaruhi citra dan reputasi dari Universitas yang nantinya dapat mengancam nilai akreditasi Universitas tersebut. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, maka diperlukan sistem yang dapat memprediksi kelulusan mahasiswa. Objek Penelitian ini dilakukan pada mahasiswa Universitas Dian Nuswantoro. Perancangan sistem prediksi menggunakan diagram Unified Modelling Language (UML). Diharapkan sistem prediksi kelulusan mahasiswa ini dapat berjalan optimal sehingga dapat memprediksi dan mengantisipasi secara dini profil kelulusan mahasiswa Universitas Dian Nuswantoro yang tidak sesuai meskipun di tengah wabah pandemi Covid-19.

PurposeGrounded in the job demands–resources (JD-R) theory, this study investigates how the difficulty in social distancing at work, resulting from the COVID-19 crisis, may lead to intention to quit and career regret and how and when these effects may be attenuated.Design/methodology/approachThree-wave survey data were collected from 223 frontline service workers in a large restaurant company during the COVID-19 crisis.FindingsThe results show that difficulty in social distancing reduced employees' work engagement, and consequently, increased their turnover intention and career regret. These relationships were moderated by external employability, such that the influence of difficulty in social distancing weakened as external employability increased.Originality/valueSocial distancing measures have been applied across the globe to minimize transmission of COVID-19. However, such measures create a new job demand for service workers who find it difficult to practice social distancing due to the high contact intensity of service delivery. This study identified personal resources that help service workers cope with the demand triggered by COVID-19.
