Abstract: Chordoid gliomas are an uncommon primary brain tumor with histologic features of a chordoma and immunolabeling for glial fibrillary acid protein. We report the 32nd case with a review of the literature. The clinical, radiographic and pathologic features of the tumor are presented with new pathologic findings adding support that this lesion may be of ependymal origin. Treatment and long term outcome are limited but chordoid gliomas appear to be indolent lesions that may be cured with gross total resection.

“…The most common surgical approaches described to resect CG include transcallosal in 7 [12, 29, 37, 43, 44, 50], transcortical in 5 [22, 31, 51, 52], and trans-lamina terminalis in 17 [4, 11, 13, 17, 20, 23, 42, 43, 46, 47, 5355]. Surgical approach was not specified in 52 patients.…”

“…Our patient was unable to assess the clinical changes caused by hyponatremia due to changes in the state of consciousness. Symptoms caused by neuroendocrine dysfunction may be relatively rare in CGs; a few cases with amenorrhea, hypothyroidism, diabetes insipidus and SIADH have been reported (Brat et al, 1998 ; Raizer et al, 2003 ; Kurian et al, 2005 ; Dziurzynski et al, 2009 ; Ni et al, 2013 ; Edate and Albanese, 2015 ; Calanchini et al, 2016 ; Cuesta et al, 2016 ; Danilowicz et al, 2018 ) ( Supplementary Table 3 ). Central diabetes insipidus, SIADH and cerebral salt wasting syndrome are the main reasons for craniocerebral surgery in the treatment of sodium metabolism imbalance.…”

“…[ 2 3 9 12 13 14 19 20 ] In previous reports, chordoid glioma has been described as tending to occur in middle-aged and older adults (25–75 years). [ 8 15 ] The clinical symptoms of this tumor are variable, according to tumor size and location. [ 3 4 9 12 18 19 ] However, the epidemiology has not been clarified because of the low incidence of this tumor.…”
