Alternative technology of safflower cultivation by sewage sludge use as a fertilizer-ameliorant

Abstract: The effect of sewage sludge as a fertilizer-ameliorant in the safflower cultivation was studied. Sewage sludge from Volzhskij wastewater treatment plants prepurified by enzyme-cavitation method was used as a fertilizer-ameliorant in the safflower cultivation. It was found that prepurified sewage sludge is environmentally friendly and has a high fertilizing value. The amino acid composition of safflower seeds was studied. The obtained data indicate that sewage sludge introduction made it possible to significant… Show more

“…Safflower has a high heat resistance, which allows it to be freely cultivated in the dry steppe zone conditions [14 -18]. This crop characterized also by the ability to produce stable crops on unproductive including saline soils [15,16]. Safflower also used for the remediation of soil fertility due to its phytomeliorative properties [19,20].…”

“…It is known that due to catastrophic changes in ecosystems, the global consequences of intensive land use, leading to soil degradation, it is required to improve agricultural production. The solution of the global environmental problem of land degradation is possible through the use of non-traditional soil ameliorants [1][2][3][4], but due to the lack of scientific and industrial infrastructure in the field of processing, recycling and disposal of waste, technologies for the secondary use of resources are practically not used. Bottom sediments are sediments that cover the bottom of a water body.…”

“…Currently, there are many different types of disks with different design and geometric parameters. Disc tillage implements differ in the shape of the working parts and the shape of the blade; installation method on the shaft; type of location on the frame and rack [12]. To improve agrotechnical performance and reduce energy costs when cultivating the soil, each disc is located on an individual rack.…”
