He has interest in both general anthropology and historical archaeology. His research interests include linguistic anthropology, archaeology of salt trading, and culture contacts in the Gold Coast/ Ghana. He is currently conducting an ongoing research in Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The project focuses on the interactions between the Danes and local Dodowa inhabitants during the 18th and the 19th centuries. The project began in 2011 with the discovery and excavations at the Frederikssted Plantation settlement in Dodowa.
