Abstract: O Arapaima gigas (Schinz, 1822) é um peixe que habita os rios amazônicos, de suma importância ecológica, e que por apresentar um elevado valor comercial e sobrepesca, corre risco de extinção. Além disto, é atrativo para a piscicultura devido ao bom rendimento zootécnico.
