However, there is no reason for excessive a-FP synthesis since there is no clinical or postmortem evi dence of liver pathology in CH newborns, in contrast to what is described in other patho logical situations in which a-FP is increased (hereditary tyrosinemia [15], ataxia telan giectasia [16], liver cancer [17]). Therefore, it is postulated that a delay in the repression of its synthesis process could be responsible for this increase.…”
