“…The earlier reported e-line of 5.372MeV of ~6VRe Ell, 12] and of 5.136MeV of 16SRe [12] were later ascribed to 166Re, and 167Re, respectively [9]. A further complication arises from the fact that the tungsten isotopes 163-~65 W are known to have similar e-ray energies of 5.384, 5.148, and 4:902 MeV [13,14] and half-lives being close to those reported for the rhenium isotopes. Therefore, we performed a careful investigation of this region.…”

“…For later half-life measurements chemical separations of tungsten were performed by adsorbing lanthanides, Ta and Hf on a DOWEX 50X8 (200-400 mesh) column saturated with La(OH) 3 and using a 0.1 M NaOH solution as eluent. Under these conditions the tungsten fraction passed the cation exchange column and could be adsorbed on a following DOWEX 1X8 (200-400 mesh) column.…”

“…However, these reactions would only affect the absolute values of the cross-sections and not alter the position of the maximum of the excitation functions or their shapes. Eastham et al pointed out [3] that the pxn-channels peak at nearly the same energies as the (x + l)nchannels.…”
