Introduction: Cytokines play a prominent role in the induction of periodontal diseases. Aloe vera can ameliorate periodontal disease considering its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. Objectives: This study investigated the effect of topical aloe vera gel, associated with scaling and root planing (SRP), on interleukin-1 (IL-1) and interleukin-17 (IL-17) of gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) levels in chronic periodontitis patients. Patients and Methods: This study recruited 20 patients diagnosed with moderate to severe chronic periodontitis (with probing pocket depths of ≥5 mm). The control group subjects underwent only SRP; the test group subjects underwent SRP, followed by topical aloe vera gel application. Periodontal clinical parameters, including probing depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL) and gingival index (GI), were determined; GCF levels of IL-1 and IL-17 were determined using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) at baseline and one month postoperatively. Results: There were significant decreases in periodontal clinical parameters in both groups compared to the baseline. The test group exhibited a significant decrease in interleukin levels compared with the control group as follows; interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) (control; 61.78±14.54, test; 43.06±10.99 ng/mL) (P<0.001), IL-17 (control; 81.33±16.66, test; 57.04±16.26 ng/mL) (P<0.001). Conclusion: Topical aloe vera gel in combination with SRP significantly improved clinical parameters of periodontitis and decreased IL-1β and IL-17 GCF levels. Trial Registration: The trial protocol of the present study was approved by the Iranian registry of Clinical Trials (identifier: IRCT20100412003690N11; https://en.irct.ir/trial/44975; ethical code #IR.TBZMED.REC.1398.1113).

In recent years, operating microscopes have been widely developed in the field of stomatology due to their advantages in lighting, magnification, and improving the accuracy of surgical operations. Periodontitis treatment has an important position in the field of stomatology, and research on its treatment is of great significance. Based on this, this article uses a controlled experiment to observe the effect of microscope-assisted periodontal flap surgery (PFS) in the treatment of moderate or severe periodontitis (MoSP), which is more beneficial for the exploration of periodontitis. This article summarizes the advantages of microscope application through data analysis, and proposes relevant countermeasures for periodontitis treatment and nursing. The data showed that TNF-a in the observation group decreased from (41.34±7.41) pg/L to (13.17±3.21) pg/L, and IL-6 decreased from (9.37±2.14) ug/L to (4.57± 1.37) ug/L; control group TNF-a decreased from (41.43±7.43) pg/L to (17.69±4.17) pg/L, and IL-6 decreased from (9.39±2.10) ug/L to (6.21±1.46) ug/L. Experimental data shows that microscopy technology assisted PFS to treat MoSP has a very good effect and can be actively used in actual clinical treatment.

The aim of the study was to assess the effect of pathogenic microflora on the postoperative period of simultaneous surgical intervention in patients with chronic maxillary sinusitis and partial absence of teeth in the distal parts of the maxilla in 49 patients (25 to 65 years old), who were divided into 2 groups (I — with identified pathogenic microflora, II — with normal microflora). Simultaneous surgical intervention included endonasal endoscopic maxillofacial surgery in combination with subantral plastic surgery and/or dental implantation, if necessary, with correction of intra-nasal structures. According to the results of clinical, hardware and laboratory research methods, it was noted that the proposed algorithm of examination and simultaneous surgical intervention in combination with conservative therapy allows for such treatment in patients with pathological flora in the maxillary sinus.
