Alleviating Transport Stress of Broiler Using Vitamin C and Acetyl Salicylic Acid

Abstract: Alleviating the effects of transportation stress was the purpose of this study by using 270 thirty-fiveday-old Ross 308 broiler chickens to check out the effects of vitamin C and acetyl salicylic acid (ASA) at different levels via drinking water. Birds in the experiment were randomly allocated to 27 identical pens (041×120×90 cm) with 10 birds each (5 males and 5 females -almost equal in weight-). At the last 24 hours of experiment pens were assigned to 9 water treatments: at levels of 0 (Control),50mg/L vitam… Show more

“…Other causes of decreased blood glucose levels can be caused by the nervous, hormonal, and neurogenic systems that are activated by releasing catecholamine hormones and norepinephrine. Ibrahim and Aziz (2021) believe the transportation process activates glycogenesis enzymes. During stress, the main function of norepinephrine is to enact non-shivering thermogenesis, which provides energy to skeletal muscle from adipose tissue.…”

“…The poultry industry is therefore increasingly focused on finding strategies to mitigate transport-related stress through different interventions including reduced transportation duration, lower crating density, and dietary feed additive supplementation before transportation to reduce stress [11][12][13][14]. Certain welfare standards have been specified in various jurisdictions to indicate the timeframes for transporting broilers.…”
