All-inorganic halide-perovskite polymer-fiber-photodetector for high-speed optical wireless communication

Abstract: The use of optical carrier frequencies will enable seamless data connection for future terrestrial and underwater internet uses and will resolve the technological gap faced by other communication modalities. However, several issues must be solved to propel this technological shift, which include the limitations in designing optical receivers with large detection areas, omnidirectionality, and high modulation bandwidth, mimicking antennas operating in the radio-frequency spectrum. To address this technological … Show more

“…Kang et al. demonstrated perovskite NCs/polymer composites-based scintillating fibers as a near-omnidirectional detection platform for several tens-to-hundreds of Mbit/s optical communication in both free space and underwater links ( Kang et al., 2022 ). As shown in Figures 23 F–23I, the scintillating fibers offer good flexibility in terms of shape and near-omnidirectional detection features.…”

“…An identical amplifier was used on the receiver side with a variable attenuator to control the amplitude of the signal to be recorded by the oscilloscope (Tektronix, MDO3104) at a sampling rate of 2500 MSamples/s for offline processing (see Ref. [25]).…”

“…Photodetectors are widely used for flame monitoring, video imaging, optical communication and so on. [1][2][3][4][5][6] Traditional bulk optoelectronic materials, such as silicon, germanium, GaAs, InP, GaN, etc., are very expensive to prepare because of their high vacuum and high temperature manufacturing technology when used as photodetectors. With the development of optoelectronic materials, solution processible quantum dots (QDs) have emerged in the vision of the scientific community, [7][8][9][10][11] they have the advantages of low cost, high flexibility and easy integration, and are ideal choices for the application of photodetectors.…”
