Alkynes as Building Blocks, Intermediates and Products in the Electrochemical Procedures Since 2000

Abstract: Electrochemical procedures present a selective and environmentally friendly approach for fine chemicals preparation. The use of electricity instead of classical chemical reagents is economical and ecologically attractive. In fact, electricity from renewable resources can be used for electrochemical transformations with highly sustainable and desirable electrochemical applications. Alkynes triple C−C bond has a key role in many chemical transformations, and a growing attention has been recently paid to its elec… Show more

“…Each metal may be used in one of a number of forms: macroscopic forms (wires, foils, granules), microscopic forms (powders by chemical reduction, smokes, skeletal powders, colloidal suspensions, blacks, condensed metal films), and supported forms (metal in varying concentration is dispersed to a varying degree on another more or less inert substance, usually an irreducible metal oxide or salt) [17–21,29,40,43–46,48,57] . Complimentary electrochemical methods to these conventional methods have been identified by various authors [58–105] . Most involve the use of carbon and platinum electrodes, with catalysts either adsorbed on electrodes or suspended in the solution for enhancement of formation of products.…”

“…Although there have been substantially less protocols reported, alkynes still represent a popular electrochemical target functionality [100]. In terms of halofunctionalization, they have also received significant attention, as the forming organohalides are excellent synthons for heterocyclic molecules and other synthetic intermediates [101,102].…”

“…Alkynes are fundamental starting materials towards more complex organic compounds, widely used both in organic chemistry and in electrochemistry as raw materials for the prepara-tion of different molecules of pharmaceutical and industrial interest [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. Among the different organic transformations involving alkynes, their hydration is a well-known and useful reaction in organic chemistry, affording carbonyl compounds based on an atom-economical approach.…”
