Abstract: Introduction: Alkaptonuria (AKU) is a rare autosomal-recessive multisystemic disease. It is caused by a mutant homogentisate dioxygenase coding gene, leading to the acclamation of homogentisic acid (HGA), hence systemic manifestations.
