Alkaloids of Corydalis slivenensis

Abstract: The known alkaloids (-)-stylopine, (-)-canadine, (+/-)-sinactine, (+)-nantenine, (+)-bulbocapnine, protopine, (-)-isocorydine, (-)-domesticine, alpha-allocryptopine and berberine were found in a mixture of alkaloids from Corydalis slivenensis (Papaveraceae), growing in Bulgaria. Dehydronantenine, corydine, predicentrine and isoboldine were detected by means of a thin-layer chromatography. Two other alkaloids - (+)-tetrahydrocorysamine and (-)-cavidine, were identified on the basis of their spectral data.

“…It is logical to assume that the latter originate from bulbocapnine (2) by the fermentation route, air or photochemical oxidation. By TLC, bulbodione (1) Isolation and separation of the alkaloid mixture 3 kg dried whole plant material of Corydalis bulbosa was extracted by Soxhlet apparatus with ethanol and the alkaloid content was obtained by the standard method.…”

“…Fremy's radical oxidation of (+)-bulbocapnine (2) 100 mg of 2 was dissolved in 10 ml ethanol and solution of Fremy's salt (100 mg salt in 10 ml 4% aqueous solution of Na2CO3), prepared by method (3), was added. The progress of the reaction was followed by TLC.…”

“…Based on the mass, 1 H, and 13 C NMR spectra, the isolated alkaloids can be divided to two main skeletons: protoberberine and aporphine skeleton. By comparing spectral data with those reported in the literatures and authentic samples, the known compounds were identified as corydaline (1) (Lee et al, 2001), xylopinine (2) (Sasagawa et al, 1969), stylopine (3) (Kiryakov et al, 1982), protopine (4) (Weiguang et al, 1987), oxypseudopalmatine (5), tetrahydropalmatine (6), epiberberine (7), palmatine (8) (Patra et al, 1987), corytenchine (10) (Sasagawa et al, 1969), berberine (14), pseudocoptisine (15), and pseudoberberine (16) (Lee et al, 2001), which have basic skeleton as protoberberine (Shamma, 1972). Meanwhile oxoglaucine (11), and glaucine (12) (Saito et al, 2004) have aporphine skeleton.…”
