Aligned Silver Nanowires Wrapped in Graphene as a Transparent Electrode for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

Siyi Yan,
Henan Wang,
Peng Li

Abstract: This study introduces a solution-processed method for producing graphene-wrapped aligned silver nanowires (AgNWs) using electrodeless deposition, electrospinning, and subsequent electrodeposition. In contrast to their unwrapped counterparts, the graphene wrapping leads to a 46% reduction in sheet resistance while preserving transmittance. Finite-element theory-based electrical−thermal coupling analysis on AgNWs uncovers that a significant potential gradient, in conjunction with symmetrically distributed Joule … Show more

“…Li et al covered a reflective layer of Al film with graphene/Ag nanoparticles coating and measured an EMI shielding effectiveness of 92.29 dB [ 18 ]. Nanowires of Ag were also investigated for EMI shielding applications, either sandwiched between graphene layers [ 19 ] or aligned and wrapped in graphene [ 20 ]. Apart from providing alternative pathways for electron transfer, graphene sheets act as barriers that block the contact of the Ag nanostructure with oxygen, which leads to a better stability of Ag nanostructures and a prolonged lifetime of the shielding material.…”
