Algorithms for Accurate and Fast Plotting of Contour Surfaces in 3D Using Hexahedral Elements

Abstract: In the present study, Fast and accurate algorithms for the generation of contour surfaces in 3D are described using hexahedral elements which are popular in finite element analysis. The contour surfaces are described in the form of groups of boundaries of contour segments and their interior points are derived using the contour equation. The locations of contour boundaries and the interior points on contour surfaces are as accurate as the interpolation results obtained by hexahedral elements and thus there are … Show more

“…As for material properties, various structures are assumed to be Q345 (elastic modulus: 2.06× 10 5 MPa; Poisson's ratio: 0.3; and density: 7.8×10 3 kg/m 3 ). The degree of densification of grids of each truss is appropriately controlled for meshing [7]. The truss structure adopts BEAM188 units.…”

“…The elastic modulus, Poisson's ratio and density of PTFE were 280 MPa, 0.4 and 2, 200 kg/m 3 , respectively. In terms of meshing, eight-node hexahedral elements were used, according to the structural characteristics of various rolling elements, while the mesh density values of their finite element models were properly controlled to guarantee calculation precision [15].…”
