Algorithm for Reducing Truck Noise on Via Baltica Transport Corridors in Lithuania

Abstract: The section of Via Baltica going through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania is the most traffic intensive land logistics corridor in the country. The annual transportation volume has been increasing on this road; thus, the reduction of pollution caused by vehicles has become important. If gas emissions are regulated, and carriers have to pay pollution taxes, this does not apply to noise levels. The article presents the traffic intensity in this logistics corridor, measurements of the noise level at the… Show more

“…In the small-engine non-road designs used to drive rescue ventilators, the exhaust systems (which also dampen noise) through the compact design are quite small 69 , 70 . One way to reduce the negative impacts (noise 71 , emissions of harmful exhaust gases 35 , 72 , 73 , high temperatures 69 , 70 ) of internal combustion engines is to replace them with electric motors 74 , 75 . However, within the group of emergency ventilator drive units, as demonstrated by Warguła and Kaczmarzyk 36 on the Polish market the most popular are combustion powered ventilators with a power output ranging from 3.4 to 6.3 kW (approximately 50% of the market).…”

“…The delivery of bulk materials via road vehicles has distinct characteristics that necessitate a high level of responsibility and thorough preparation [13]. The movement of bulk freight must not present any potential hazards to fellow road users, the surrounding environment, or the existing infrastructure.…”

“…This aspect of road transport safety was presented in the works [39,40]. According to the manners of driving a car, the personality of the driver, his respect for other road users, responsibility, discipline, vigilance and deliberate caution can be accurately determined [41]. If the driver drives the car in an orderly manner and deliberately avoids speeding, such a driver is less likely to get into a traffic accident [42].…”
