Abstract: Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) is a pivotal mechanism driving bacterial evolution, conferring adaptability within dynamic marine ecosystems. Among HGT mechanisms, conjugation mediated by Type IV secretion systems (T4SSs) plays a central role in the ecological success of marine bacteria.
