The recycling of automotive catalytic converters enables the recovery of up to 95% of platinum metals contained therein, and also, in comparison with traditional mining, saves considerable amounts of energy (the processing of 1 ton of used catalytic converters prevents the extraction of 150 tons of ore or, alternatively, 400 tons of waste rock) (Moschovi et al 2018).…”
