Abstract: Investigaciones previas llevadas a cabo a nivel internacional han puesto de manifiesto una elevada prevalencia del consumo de alcohol y otras drogas y de trastornos mentales entre el colectivo femenino privado de libertad. “…In this respect, it is worth mentioning that most significant differences were observed with anxiety spectrum disorders, mood disorders and thought disorders. Therefore, these results show the direction in which treatments in penitentiary institutions should go, towards the restructuring of thoughts and emotional management, especially in convicted women, considering the significant number of women with a history of previous psychopathology, in particular of emotional, physical and sexual abuse (Caravaca‐Sánchez & García‐Jarillo, 2020; Gottfried & Christopher, 2017; Caravaca‐Sánchez, Fear, & Vaughn, 2019).
