Objective to analyze the association between alcohol use by adolescents and environmental, family and social relations factors. Method and epidemiological study, of the cross-sectional cohort type, with a sample consisting of 303 students from the Brazilian 9thgrade of elementary level of public and private schools in Divinópolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data was collected through the replication of the “General Information” and “Use of Alcohol” modules from the National Survey of School Health - 2015. The answer variable was alcohol consumption in life, associating it with explanatory variables related to: living with parents, maternal schooling, administrative dependency of the school, alcohol use by friends, and future perspectives. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used using Pearson's chi-square tests and Poisson's model for robust variances. Results an association was found in the multivariate analysis between consumption of beverages and intending to study only until high school or technical school (p=0.007), continuing to study and work (p=0.003), not living with parents (p=0.010), and having friends who make use alcohol (p=0.009). Conclusion social relationships were the most relevant factor for alcohol consumption by adolescents, mainly influenced by friends who use it and by the interpersonal relationships established by them.

Abstract:Introduction: Translational medicine is a new paradigm that favors a transfer of knowledge from the lab to the clinical practice. It correlates to the field of Public Health, although there are still challenges. There is a full contribution of Brazil in the theme of Translational Medicine and Public Health. These contributions to public health maximize decision making in health, which is fundamental to maintain a healthy population. Objective: Thus, the Journal of Human Growth and Development has been repository these discussions, contributing to a dissemination of this knowledge worldwide. Different aspects involving clinical practice and public health are highlighted, discussing the real situation of health conditions in the different contexts. These discussions range from the actions to promote health for the population to investigations that bring results, promoting an improvement in health and contributing to the (re)construction of health actions. The importance of researches investigating on means to get the reengineering of the health system is noted. It should consider the needs medical, researchers, managers and users in order to produce knowledge that will become products to improve the health of population.

Objective: to report the experience of implementing an educational intervention on the prevention of alcohol use in school adolescents. Method: this is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, type experience report, developed from the following steps: 1) knowledge of the school unit and presentation of the intervention proposal; 2) knowledge of the territory and situational diagnosis of problems based on the axes and guidelines of the School Health Program; 3) theme selection and intervention planning; and 4) implementation and evaluation of the educational intervention. Results: it was provided, through the intervention, the clarification of the risks of alcohol use, allowing school adolescents to reflect on certain behaviors and how they may be harmful to health, such as alcohol use in adolescence. Conclusion: the intervention was evaluated as positive for both undergraduate students and students and reinforces the need for educational activities in the school space, in order to prevent health problems related to adolescents. RESUMOObjetivo: relatar a experiência da implementação de uma intervenção educativa acerca da prevenção do uso de álcool em adolescentes escolares. Método: trata-se de um estudo descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, tipo relato de experiência, desenvolvido a partir das seguintes etapas: 1) conhecimento da unidade escolar e apresentação da proposta de intervenção; 2) conhecimento do território e diagnóstico situacional de problemas com base nos eixos e diretrizes norteadoras do programa saúde na escola; 3) seleção da temática e planejamento da intervenção; e 4) execução e avaliação da intervenção educativa. Resultados: propiciou-se, por meio da intervenção, o esclarecimento sobre os riscos do uso do álcool, permitindo aos adolescentes escolares a reflexão sobre determinadas condutas e o quanto estas podem ser prejudiciais à saúde, como o uso do álcool na adolescência. Conclusão: avaliou-se a intervenção como positiva tanto para os acadêmicos em formação como para os alunos e reforça-se a necessidade de atividades educativas no espaço escolar, a fim de prevenir agravos relacionados à saúde do adolescente.
