Aktuelles zur Syphilistherapie und zur serologischen Kontrolle

Abstract: Penicillin is currently the drug of choice for therapy of syphilis. Clemizole and procaine penicillin are no longer available. For this reason only benzathine penicillin and infusion therapy with benzyl penicillin are possible. Treatment with doxycyline or ceftriaxone is also conceivable. Suitable serological methods are necessary to control the safety of the therapy.

“…A fourfold or greater decrease of the antibody titer after 6 months correlates with decreased antibody levels and a high probability of successful therapy of primary and secondary syphilis [7, 47]. The longer syphilis has existed, the slower normalization of the reactions occurs [45, 48]. In later latency this can be expected after one year [48].…”

“…The longer syphilis has existed, the slower normalization of the reactions occurs [45, 48]. In later latency this can be expected after one year [48]. In less than 5% of patients the reactions do not revert despite adequate therapy, a condition termed “sero‐fast”.…”

“…[17,18,24] The clemizole-penicillin combination was widely employed for treating syphilis. [25][26][27] Nowadays, clemizole becomes popular again with not only its antihistaminic features but also the blocking effects of TRPC5 cation channels, specifically. On the other hand, Cis is widely used in the treatment of several malignancies as an antitumoral drug.…”
