Mediterranean fruit fly (MFF) (Ceratitis capitata (Wied)) (Dip.: Tephritidae) is an external quarantine pest and has a zero tolerance in export. It causes economic losses in our country. The presence of a single infested fruit with this pest in export leads to the return of the whole product (Başpınar et al. 2009). C. capitata is a member of the Tephritidae family, order Diptera, which has more than 4500 species in the world (Liquido et al., 1990, Bayrak and Hayat, 2012). MFF is one of 118 species of fruit fly pests recorded in Turkey (Kütük et al., 2013). The most important hosts identified in our country are mainly citrus fruits, peaches, figs, persimmon and pomegranates, but it also causes damage in apricot, apple, pear, quince, plum and avocado (

The study was conducted to determine infestation rates of medfly on common guava, Psidium guajava L. (Myrtaceae), fruits in Hatay province of Türkiye. During the study, a different number of the common guava fruits were collected at University of Hatay Mustafa Kemal Research Center in Field 49. They were brought to the laboratory, placed in three plastic container, and each container put into three different mesh screen cages at room temperature. For each of the sampling year, the adults of medfly emerging from the infested fruits were counted in a three-mesh screen cages. Additionally, medfly infestation rates were evaluated as percentage by examining all fruits in plastic cups in each of the cages. As a result of four-year investigations, this pest was found on P. guajava fruits in all sampling years. Totals of 3240 medfly adults in 2016, 4161 medfly adults in 2017, 4621 medfly adults in 2019, and 2982 medfly adults in 2020 were counted in three mesh screen cages. In 2016, a total of 600 guava fruit samples were collected during the study period, of which 255 fruits (42.5%) were infested by medfly. In 2017, a total of 450 guava fruit samples were collected during the study period, of which 352 fruits (78.22%) were infested by medfly. In 2019, a total of 870 guava fruit samples were collected during the study period, of which 625 fruits (71.84%) were infested by medfly. In 2020, a total of 689 guava fruit samples were collected during the study period, of which 554 fruits (81.41%) were infested by medfly. The highest percentage infested rates was recorded as 81.41 in 2020, followed by 78.22 in 2017, 71.84 in 2019 and 42.5 in 2016.

Elazığ ve Malatya illerinde, Akdeniz meyvesineği’nin bazı biyo-ekolojik özellikleri ve zarar durumu üzerine çalışmalar

ÖzAkdeniz meyvesineği, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae) birçok meyve türünün ana zararlısı konumundadır. Bu çalışma ile 2017-2018 yıllarında Elazığ ve Malatya illerinde Akdeniz meyvesineği'nin ergin popülasyon değişimleri, zarar oranı ile kışı geçirme durumu araştırılmıştır. Malatya ili Battalgazi ilçesinde, tuzaklarda ilk ergin bireyler 2017 yılında Ağustos ayı sonunda, 2018 yılında ise haziran sonunda görülmüştür. Tuzaklarda yakalanan en fazla ergin sayısı ise 2017 ve 2018 yıllarında sırasıyla 17 Kasım (365 adet tuzak -1 ) ve 31 Ağustos (804 adet tuzak -1 ) tarihlerinde belirlenmiştir. Elazığ ili merkez ilçesinde 2018 yılında Akdeniz meyvesineği ilk kez 28 Haziranda görülmüş ve 2 Ağustos tarihinde 250 adet tuzak -1 ile en yüksek yoğunluğa ulaşmıştır. Baskil ilçesinde ise zararlı ilk olarak 5 Temmuz tarihinde görülürken, tuzakta yakalanan en yüksek ergin sayısı 486 adet tuzak -1 (13 Eylül) olmuştur. Akdeniz meyvesineği'nin, 2017 yılında armut ve şeftali meyvelerinde, 2018 yılında ise armut, elma, ayva, nar, şeftali, hünnap ve Trabzon hurması meyvelerinde varlığı saptanmıştır. Akdeniz meyvesineği'nin örnekleme yapılan meyve türlerinde ise %0.0-%53.3 oranında zarar verdiği tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte yürütülen çalışmalarda Elazığ ve Malatya illerinde arazi şartlarında zararlının kışı geçiremediği tespit edilmiştir.
