Airline Quality Assessment Methodology Taking Into Account the Flight Safety Level Based on Factor Analysis

Abstract: In this article, the authors offer a methodology for determining the quality of airline performance by taking into account the level of flight safety on the basis of factor analysis and the results of methodology approbation in the conditions of a functioning airline. The assessment of the level of airline performance quality taking into account the level of flight safety within a certain time span is rather sensitive, informative and reliable. They allow us to detect those changes in industrial and economic c… Show more

“…The higher the quality (less violations, deviations), the higher the safety of flights (less risk/hazard factors, potential threats). It is generally believed that in aviation, depending on the severity of the consequences, there are four types of negative events (Bogdane et al, 2018;Vaivads et al, 2018):…”

“…the versatility, multivariance, multicriteria and uncertainty of various situations significantly complicate the task of forming an algorithm for analyzing deviations and violations from the point of view of their impact on flight safety. By "anomalies" in the work of the structural divisions of the airline and its personnel, we mean errors that have led or may lead to the loss of the "crew/aircraft" system or the inability to perform the specified functions, and thereby create a risk of special situations in flight and during their fulfillment, aircraft accident or flight incident [8,9,10,11].…”

“…Such information always circulates within the airline and in one form or another goes to the management. Although any manager actually deals with risks on a continuous basis, at the same time, a full-fledged analysis of risks and their inclusion in the flight safety / aviation security system is not carried out, which reduces the effectiveness of ensuring the appropriate level of safety in general [9].…”
