The known method removes/replaces a constant amount of sorbent after each iteration. Known method discards fresher material, too, as the looping sorbent is fully mixed. We can sort removed CO2-loaded sorbent: the fresher is denser due to higher capacity. Our novel strategy puts freshest sorbent back; we compute the reduced need of sorbent. *Research HighlightsPage 2 of 21 AbstractAn innovative method for sorbent replacement in the looping of a generic solid sorbent for post-combustion carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) is introduced. First, the standard replacement method is revisited with some original results presented. A new strategy is then modeled, aimed at selectively replacing the material as it degrades. This method exploits the density difference, after adsorption, between relatively fresh, CO 2 -laden sorbent and relatively degraded material, with small residual adsorption capacity. The model is then applied to values of degradation rate within the experimental range available in scientific literature for silica-supported amines (SSA). The selective removal strategy ideally allows a saving of 37% of the sorbent with respect to the standard, undifferentiated replacement considered in first place, while keeping the same adsorptive capacity of the system.

Abstract：Experimental studies on the influence of scraper movement on the fluidization of air dense-medium fluidized bed (ADMFB) have been conducted. The maximum bed pressure drop is about 3% when the scraper speed changes from 0 to 0.5m/s. The minimum fluidized velocity U mf decreases as the scraper speedincrease. At the same time, the bed density only declines by 3.7%, and the density standard deviation decreases significantly. which is mainly caused by the horizontal motion of the medium. The separation tests indicated that the most appropriate scraper speed is between 0.1m/s and 0.3m/s and it was reasonable to move the scraper at the appropriate rate to get the better separation performance. A vibrated gas-solid fluidized bed was proposed and tested to improve and upgrade fine lignite. A broad particle size (0.074-0.3 mm) of magnetite powder was prepared and used as main separating medium solids for coal improvement. The fluidization stability of the bed, including the fluidization index, fluctuations of bed pressure drop, and uniformity of bed density, was greatly enhanced by introducing the vibration energy to the static bed. The vibrated separation shows positive effects to improve the surface morphology of lignite and upgrade its quality to a certain degree. Ash-content segregation of fine lignite samples obviously occurs by the joint effects of fluidized gas and vibration. The optimal segregation degree S ash values of 0.73 and 0.70 were achieved with suitable operating factors. The density-dependent separation performance indicates that the ash and sulfur contents of lignite were sharply reduced with the probable error E values of 0.060 and 0.065 g/cm 3 . However, the overall E value for 6-1 mm sized fine lignite increases to 0.12 g/cm 3 due to the shift in the D 50 with particle size. The products of low-ash clean coal, middlings, and high-ash gangue were effectively obtained by successive separations. The dry coal improvement technology provides an alternative approach for the clean utilization of fine coal.
