Selection of proper fuel supplier is extremely important for companies that carry out transportation activities and it can be evaluated as a critical decision to obtain competitive advantages in the transportation market. A structural and systematic frame is suggested in this paper in order to solve the decision problems for fuel supplier selection. In order to determine the selection criteria, the board of experts was constructed and a large number of roundtable meetings that realized in the way of brainstorm were organized with them. One of the most important questions can be asked as what are the selection criteria and decision options for the fuel supplier selection process? Experts who are a decision maker in their companies tried to seek a rational answer to this question. At the end of these meetings, obtained results were re-evaluated by the members of the board and selection criteria and decision options that will use for evaluation process were determined. The decision alternatives are Brand-P, Brand-B, BrandS , and Brand-O. The selection criteria can be sorted as: fuel price per liter, product quality, service quality, easy terms of payment, brand awareness, environmental sensitivity. Actually, selection of fuel and fuel supplier has an extremely complex characteristic and it is a multicriteria decision-making problem. In this paper, the analytic hierarchy process theory was selected as a multi-criteria decision making problem in order to solve the decision making problem concerning with fuel and fuel supplier selection process. By using this methodology, decision makers can select the best fuel brand and fuel supplier by comparing variables such as selection criteria and decision alternatives in a mathematical model.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a new public bread factory location selection for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). Design/methodology/approach A two-stage methodology is proposed to determine the location for the public bread factory facility. This framework is based on both geographic information systems (GIS) and multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques. The first stage of the methodology aims to decrease the number of possible alternative locations to simplify the selection activity by applying GIS; the second stage utilises interval type-2 fuzzy MCDM approach to exactly determine the public bread factory site location. Findings In this study, the authors present weighted normalised-based interval type-2 hesitant fuzzy and interval type-2 hesitant fuzzy sets (IT2HFSs)-based compressed proportional assessment (COPRAS) methods to overcome facility location selection problem for a fourth public bread factory in Istanbul. Practical implications The results show that the proposed approach is practical and can be employed by the bakery industry. Originality/value In this study, the authors present a two-stage methodology for public bread factory site selection. In the first stage, the number of alternatives is reduced by the GIS. In the second stage, an interval type-2 fuzzy set is implemented for the evaluation of public bakery factory site alternatives. A new integrated approach based on COPRAS method and weighted normalised with IT2HFSs is proposed.

Today, educational institutions follow modern technology and use technological products such as smart board and tablet computer widely as education tools owing to the rapidly developing technology. The lessons supported by these technologies, make learning more effective by influencing student motivation positively. In that scope, the discussed developing technology and its innovative tools will help to improve the quality of education in the long term and contribute to the development of the different skills of the students. In this study, tablet computer selection problem of a high school located in Denizli, Turkey will be analyzed deeply. That determined high school decided to use tablet computers in the lessons as an education tool and the school management aimed to select the most suitable tablet computer to give their students. In this context, tablet computer alternatives have been assessed by an integrated approach based on the combined use of two MCDM (Multi Criteria Decision Making) methods; AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and OCRA (Operational Competitiveness RAting). The weights of the criteria were determined with AHP method, then OCRA method was used to rank tablet computer alternatives. The school management has been guided in the selection process of the most suitable tablet computer for their students. They found the search results satisfactory and decided to buy the selected tablet computer by the integrated MCDM method proposed in this study.
