The article considers the theoretical and methodological foundations of forest industry research. The analysis of indicators of the forest industry of Khmelnytskyi region and Ukraine is carried out. To do this, a list of indicators and methods of their collection for the study of the forest industry. Since the state of ecology and forestry in Ukraine is not in the best condition, it is objectively necessary to use methods of economic and mathematical modeling of forest management, which would take into account environmental, economic and social factors, which will quickly implement the principles of sustainable development in forest management. The dynamics of forestry indicators is estimated. Models of dynamics of indicators of forest branch are developed; the received forecasts are analyzed and recommendations on forest management in the region are given. It is determined that with an increase in investment in the development of the forest industry by 1%, we can expect an increase in the volume of the logging market by 524632.5 points. The results of the study can serve as a basis for management decisions on the management of forestry indicators.

Effective environmental management is a key element of a country’s sustainable social and economic development. This requires comprehensive environmental protection measures and stimulating the use of environmentally friendly technologies and innovations aimed at preserving the environment. One of the ways to achieve these goals is to apply environmental taxes. Environmental taxes are powerful tools for achieving environmental goals and ensuring sustainable development. The article analyzes the implementation and practice of applying environmental taxation. It is revealed that Ukraine had significantly higher greenhouse gas emissions per unit of energy produced in 2012–2021. It was established that emissions of pollutants from mobile sources make up 40% of the total emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. Pollutant emissions from road transport make up 91% of pollutants emitted by mobile sources. The study examines the possibilities of stimulating emission reductions through an environmental tax in Ukraine and offers to improve the system of financing environmental measures, including through environmental taxation. International practice shows that countries that successfully implement environmental taxes and green taxation instruments are able to achieve more effective results in reducing pollution and rationalizing the use of resources. The right combination of environmental taxes with other instruments, such as regulatory standards and financial incentives, can significantly improve the environmental situation and ensure sustainable economic growth.

The peculiarities of the current stage of the functioning of the economic system of Ukraine are due to the intensification of industrial and agricultural production and, as a consequence, the operation of environmentally “dirty” technologies, their high energy and resource consumption. On the other hand, the low rate of development of the national economy, caused by internal and external destabilizing factors, leads to the use of limited investment resources in the environmental sphere, which poses a threat of environmental crisis. In this regard, the issue of assessing the state of environmental safety at both national and regional levels is becoming especially relevant. The use of modern analytical tools, in particular, methods of multidimensional statistical analysis, will help create a scientifically sound basis for the prevention and reduction of the negative consequences of the implementation of environmental threats to regional security. We proposed the use of cluster analysis technology to group regions by the level of environmental safety. The typology of regions was carried out in five clusters. The content characteristics of each cluster are presented. The absence of structural changes in the clustering of regions during the last two years was shown. The application of factor analysis methods for the same set of initial data generally confirmed the results of clustering.
