Abstract:Background: Acute pancreatitis is one of the most common causes of acute abdominal pain in patients presenting to tertiary care hospital. The prevalence of acute pancreatitis in Pakistan is 0.03%. Assessment of prognosis is important in management of patients with acute pancreatitis. A simple and clinical oriented scoring system to predict the severity of acute pancreatitis at the time of presentation is required.
