“…out by the Association pour les Fouilles Archéologiques Nationales (AFAN) prior to the extension of the Musée National de Préhistoire (MNP). Conducted by Luc Detrain between 1991(Detrain et al 1991, this new excavation covered a 31 m 2 area encompassing the previous Chadourne excavation and revealed a sequence of 13 archaeological levels within 8 lithostratigraphic units ( Table 1). The sequence records the techno-cultural evolution of hunter-gatherer societies from the Middle Gravettian (archaeological levels NA12 and NA11) up through the Solutrean (NA9-10a-NA7), Badegoulian (NA6-NA4), and possibly the Magdalenian (NA3-NA1?).…”

It was thus deemed important to renew and complement the chronology of the Upper Paleolithic sequence of the Abri Casserole.…”

“…Keilmessergruppen/M.M.O. are also present in more temperate areas, at the margins of their central European core-area, but in particularly cold stages; in south-western France, at Abri du Musée (ensemble V zone II), the Keilmesser with tranchet-blow technique appears together with cold and open environment fauna, like reindeer and mammoth [128]. In eastern France, Grotte de la Vérpiliére II is probably framed between the end of MIS 4 and the beginning of MIS 3, with a quite similar faunal assemblage [40].…”
