Agent-supported simulation environment for intelligent manufacturing and warehouse management systems

Abstract: The main objective of this PhD thesis is the study of Diesel sprays under evaporative conditions by means of Large Eddy Simulations (LES) techniques. This study has been performed implementing a precise, low-demanding LES model in the free, full-purpose Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code OpenFOAM.The starting point was a careful and exhaustive review of the physical processes involved in sprays. An emphasis in CFD methodology, particularly for LES methods, was essential for the thesis, as we were able to … Show more

“…Guo and Zhang (2008) considered that the agent can possess basic attributes (e.g., object, knowledge, and label) composed of functional units, such as communication module, processing module, inference module, and study module. Ruiz et al (2011) discussed an agent-supported simulation environment for IM and warehouse management systems. Sabar et al (2012) proposed an approach for a multi-agent-based algorithm for personnel scheduling and rescheduling.…”

“…Expert system/artificial intelligence techniques apply technical knowledge and expertise that is unique to the given environment (Li et al 2006, Srinoi et al 2006. Hybrid approaches use a combination of the methods described above (Venkateswaran and Son 2005, Albey and Bilge 2010, Ruiz et al 2011). …”

“…Multi-agent negotiation in supply chains was proposed in Wong and Fang (2010). The multi-agent technology also has been used to construct flexible manufacturing system models , Merdan et al 2011, Renna 2011, Ruiz et al 2011. Bo¨hnlein et al (2011) used agent-based technologies to research the transport planning in the newspaper industry.…”

“…A multi-stage inventory control problem with non-stationary demand was researched by multi-agent technologies (Kim et al 2010). Ruiz et al (2011) provided a flexible simulation tool to solve new manufacturing requirements. In the current research, the model is used to solve the dynamic delivery demand.…”
