Agent-Grid Integration Ontology

Abstract: The integration of GRID and MAS (Multi-Agents Systems) is an active research topic. We have recently proposed the Agent-Grid Integration Language, to describe a service-based integration of GRID and MAS models. However, the complexity of the mutual integration aspects leads us to define a rigorous way to formalize the key concepts, their relations and the integration rules by means of an ontology. With this ontology, we can describe the elements and their composition that occur in various service exchange scen… Show more

“…The AGIL language is currently under specification under the form of an ontology [16] developed with the Protégé Ontology editor (protege.stanford.edu). This integrated model is also under current development and testing at LIRMM (www.lirmm.fr) within an implementation of STROBE agents within the MadKit multi-agent platform (www.madkit.org) developed by LIRMM.…”

“…A good metaphor to understand virtualization is currency conversion: each host uses a different currency to measure its amount of resources. To virtualize means to transform (following a rate of conversion) a part of its amount in a common currency 16. In set theory, P(S) represents the power set of S i.e., the set of all subsets of S.…”

“…These authors have in fact called for an "integration" between MAS and Grid services which goes beyond a simple synergy for mutual help, or interoperability, as shown in most of the traditional literature. It should be noted that this full integration has indeed been achieved in its essence by recent work [3,7]. With the advent of Agent-Grid Integration, it is necessary to consider workflows in this context since Grid provides power and a support for sharing resources in different virtual communities.…”

“…Ontology may be defined as being a formalisation of the concepts, properties and relationships in a given domain [5]. We have therefore extended the ontological description of Agents and Grid services as presented in [3]. Since this ontology (AGIO) enables us to formalize our new workflow and integrate it in this context.…”
