Agent-based middleware architecture for reconfigurable manufacturing systems

Abstract: Modern manufacturing systems are expected to be flexible and efficient in order to cope with challenging market demands. Thus, they must be flexible enough as to meet changing requirements such as changes in production, energy efficiency, performance optimization, fault tolerance to process or controller faults, among others. Demanding requirements can be defined as a set of quality of service (QoS) requirements to be met. This paper proposes a generic and customizable multi-agent architecture that, making use… Show more

“…In this case, new components based on metamodeling can be added. The reflection of this idea can be found in other researches such as Priego et al [49] and Hanisch et al [50]. A third work by Ryashentseva [38] represents a MAS approach focused on the real-time capabilities for self-reconfigurability of production plants, and has implemented supervisory control theory (SCT) increasing self-adaptability.…”

“…There exists numerous application domains of software system functions that are suitable for Agent techniques such as below in Table 1. One of the recent applications of multi-agent using IoT can be found in [9] where it discussed an Agent-based middleware architecture for reconfigurable manufacturing systems. Recent Object-Oriented software engineering procedures offer tools and method for developing a traditional software systems.…”
