Manifestations of the recent magmatism were discovered in the Wilhelm Archipelago near the Ukrainian research station in the West Antarctica. There are small subvolcanic dykes that intrude Paleocene granitoids on the Barchans, Forge, Booth and Dannebrog Islands. The authors studied the occurrence, petrography and geochemistry of the dyke rocks in order to find out the peculiarities of their formation. The studied dykes are typical post-plutonic fissure intrusions injected in the host granitoids after their complete consolidation and cooling. Moreover, the host granitoids were not only cooled before the dyking but they were also exhumed at the beginning of the Neogene due to of the processes of tectonic uplift and erosion. Field observation and some other features point out to the Late Neogene or Quaternary age of the dykes. Their intrusion occurred at the shallow depths. During formation, at least part of the dykes was connected with the earth’s surface. So, they were conduits for fissured volcanic eruptions. The geochemical features of the most widespread basaltic dykes call into question their genetic connection with quantitatively subordinate dykes of andesitic and dacitic composition. They probably had different sources of magma generation that were related to different geotectonic processes. Andesitic and dacitic dykes may represent the final outburst of subduction-related calc-alkaline magmatism. On the other hand, the connection between subduction processes and Late Cenozoic basaltic dyking is not obvious and requires additional research.

We present the crustal deformation field in the Penola Strait – Lemaire Channel fault area (West Antarctica), based on the analysis of the 5 seasonal cycles of static GNSS survey. This 5 GNSS campaigns were conducted with approximately a 16-year interval from 2003 to 2019. The analyses indicate that average linear velocities of horizontal movements are multidirectional but no larger than 1 – 2 mm/yr. Average linear velocities of vertical movements are no larger than ±3 mm/yr. In the present work scheme of vertical and horizontal movements has been drawn out. The obtained results correlate well with the movements of the surrounding GNSS stations. Based on the analysis of spatial distribution of the Earth’s surface dilatation velocity the zones of extreme compression and expansion values were revealed. The analyses of spatial distribution of the Earth’s surface total shear velocity indicate that the studied region is horizontally heterogeneous. Based on the analysis of obtained results, a new kinematic model of fault area was developed. The possibility of using static GNSS survey to study recent local geodynamic processes in Antarctica has been demonstrated.

The Antarctic Peninsula block in the Western Antarctica has traditionally been considered as a magmatic arc formed along the south-western part of the Paleo-Pacific subregion during the collapse of the Gondwana supercontinent. About 80 % of the rocks of the Western Antarctica and the adjacent Bellingshausen Sea shelf area are represented by two groups of rocks -the in trusions of the batholiths of the Antarctic Peninsula (AP batholiths), also known as Andean Intrusive Suite rocks, and Volcanogenic rocks of the Antarctic Peninsula [1-3].
