“…12 Moreover, menopause is very unlikely to occur before the age of 40 years; the risk of natural menopause before age 40 is approximately 1%. 13 Therefore, we defined fertile age between 15 and 40 years. Time to diagnosis, AQP4-ab status, dis ease classification, and the annualized relapse rate (ARR) were analysed according to age at disease onset.…”

“…And indeed, youth is one of the most important factors of women's attractiveness (Buunk et al ., ). Then, for a given age, the temporal reproductive window will vary according to the age at menopause, which is highly variable both across and within populations (Avis et al ., ; Thomas et al ., ; Velde et al ., ; Dratva et al ., ; Morris et al ., ; Stepaniak et al ., ). If the future age at menopause is somehow detectable in young adults, it could contribute substantially to mate choice and thus influence female attractiveness.…”

“…Further, some studies in women of European descent observed later ANM with higher educational level (Kaczmarek, ; Martin et al, ; Stepaniak et al, ). A previous meta‐analysis (Sun et al, ) observed that current smokers presented an approximate twofold risk of an earlier ANM compared to nonsmokers, and women with an active lifestyle had a later ANM (Dratva et al, ; Gudmundsdottir, Flanders, & Augestad, ; Stepaniak et al, ). Emaus et al () suggested that physical activity was associated with a later ANM only in former‐ or current‐heavy smokers, and had no effect on ANM in the absence of smoking.…”
