“…Important sites with radiocarbon-dated Coleoptera faunas have been described from the UK, for example, at Barnwell Station, Cambridge (Coope, 1968b), Dimlington (Penny et al, 1969;Rose, 1985), Glanllynnau (Coope and Brophy, 1972) and Colnbrook, West London (Coope, 1982). At Ramsel, Belgium a coleopteran assemblage with many obligate cold adapted species has a radiocarbon date of 17 000 yr BP (Gullentops and Coope, unpublished).…”

“…The stratigraphical position of these sediments is constrained by the relationship of the Late Devensian Holkham Till which overlies a Last Interglacial (MIS 5e) raised beach at Morston (Gale et al, 1988), and radiocarbon dates on the sediments of Glacial Lake Sparks, dammed by an ice-lobe situated in The Wash at c. 22 cal ka BP (West et al 1999). The Holkham Till is also ascribed to the Late Devensian on the basis of a correlation with the Skipsea Till of Holderness (Madgett and Catt 1978), which was deposited after 18.5 14 C years BP (Penny et al 1969). The samples obtained in this study were taken from the Ringstead valley (TF 725405) which is infilled with till and glaciofluvial sediments, including an esker ridge and a meltwater channel that forms a drainage exit to the valley.…”

“…Davies et al, 2009Davies et al, , 2011Roberts et al, 2013). The Skipsea Till at Holderness records the initial southern extension of the North Sea Lobe during the Late Devensian which can be constrained to 21.7-16.2 ka based upon radiocarbon and OSL dating of immediately underlying and overlying deposits (Penny et al, 1969;Bateman et al, 2011). This is further corroborated by high-level lake deposits from palaeo-glacial Lake Humber with an OSL age of 16.6 ± 1.2 ka (Bateman et al, 2008).…”
