Ag nanoparticles immobilized sulfonated polyethersulfone/polyethersulfone electrospun nanofiber membrane for the removal of heavy metals

Abstract: In this work, Eucommia ulmoides leaf extract (EUOLstabilized silver nanoparticles (EUOL@AgNPs) incorporated sulfonated polyether sulfone (SPES)/polyethersulfone (PES) electrospun nanofiber membranes (SP ENMs) were prepared by electrospinning, and they were studied for the removal of lead (Pb(II)) and cadmium (Cd(II)) ions from aqueous solutions. The SP ENMs with various EUOL@AgNPs loadings were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscope, thermo-gravimetric analysis… Show more

“…The non-linear Freundlich isotherm equation is given below [39] q e ¼ K F C n e (8) where K F , 1/n, q e, (mg/g) and C e (mg/L) represent Freundlich isotherm constant (amount of pesticide adsorbed onto CIL@MNPs), adsorption constant, amount of pesticides adsorbed per unit mass of CIL@MNPs and equilibrium concentration, respectively. This mathematical construct gave a linear fit to the experimental data.…”

“…A linear plot (Figure 4A) between 1/C e vs. 1/q e results in a straight line and using the value of slope and intercept, values of Langmuir constant (K L ) and the maximum adsorption capacity (q max ) are calculated, respectively. The non-linear form of Langmuir isotherm is numerically represented as equation 2: [78]…”
