The purpose of this summary is to outline the available research on the psychological factors associated with aesthetic surgery. Aesthetic procedures such as abdominoplasty, breast augmentation, face lift, and rhinoplasty are shown to have unique preoperative and postoperative psychological factors. Depression and anxiety may occur after aesthetic procedures with an increased incidence in patients with certain depression prone personality traits. The pre-existing psychology of patients is also an important contributing factor to consider when evaluating surgical candidates. Pre-existing mood disorders such as depression and anxiety are shown with higher incidence in individuals pursuing aesthetic procedures and can predispose such individuals to worsening mood symptoms postoperatively. This paper aims to equip surgeons with a better understanding of the common psychological factors seen in the field of aesthetic surgery so patients can be better supported throughout all parts of the surgical process.

Objective: To determine the impact of aesthetic surgery on quality of life. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: The departments of Psychiatry, Plastic Surgery and ENT, Combined Military Hospital Multan, from Jan to Nov 2020. Methodology: Seventy-four patients were enrolled for this study. They underwent aesthetic surgery. A standard questioner was designed for these patients and response was obtained before undertaking the procedure and then after six months postoperatively. The questions were designed keeping in mind the specific type of surgery. Questions on Life Satisfaction, and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-4) were asked. The data were collected and analyzed by using SSPS-25. Results: There is high satisfaction postoperatively after aesthetic surgery. There are improvements in quality of life (p=0.03), physical well-being (Health) (p=0.03), body image (p=0.02), emotional stability (p<0.01) and emotional distress (Depression) (p=0.04 and anxiety (p=0.01) were noted to be reduced. Conclusion: Aesthetic surgery leads to higher satisfaction in physical appearance, health, emotional stability and reduction of anxiety.

Objectives: Assess different modalities and techniques of abdominoplasty post weight loss and post bariatric patients to enhance the results and achieve more cosmetic contouring with less complications. Subjects and Methods: This study included 21 patients by different modalities and trends abdominoplasties in post weight loss and bariatric surgery were performed in Plastic Surgery Department-Shebin El-Kom Teaching Hospital and Menoufia University from January 2017-September 2019. Results: Patients' expectations and satisfaction were varied but in most of situations, patients find their expectation right. All those who think they 'might' have excellent outcome subjectively have an excellent outcome beside 3 patients thought the outcome may be 'very good'. Only one patient had unsatisfied outcome after 'very good' expectation. So the total number of constant impressions were 16/21 (76.1%) while 5/21 (23.9%) of impressions had different opinions. Generally, comparing both outcomes by Wilcoxon rankedsum test, there were no statistically significant difference between both groups of outcomes. There were only 3/21 (14.28%) cases developed complications in our study. These complications were seroma (2 cases) and wound infection (one case). Conclusion: After measuring patient's satisfaction, abdominal girths and complication rate, abdominoplasty was safe and effective maneuver for abdominal contouring with good patient selection.
