Este estudio reconstruye las intervenciones del movimiento futurista italiano respecto a la moda. La preocupación por el traje será teorizada por Giacomo Balla en 1914 e iniciará, en el ámbito de la reconstrucción futurista tras la guerra, su propuesta y la de Fortunato Depero. El protagonismo de la mujer en los años veinte se reflejará en los presupuestos teóricos sobre la moda femenina de Filippo Tommaso Marinetti y Volt, así como en el planteamiento de una prenda democrática unisex propuesta por Ernesto Thayath, que aunó su experiencia en una casa de alta costura y su militancia futurista. Los años treinta estuvieron determinados por la reivindicación de una moda masculina de identidad nacional resumida en las intervenciones de Victor Aldo de Sanctis, Renato Di Bosso, Ignazio Scurto y Tullio Cralientre otros, en la que los materiales de confección se convirtieron en una alegoría política. El trabajo concluye que la moda futurista se constituyó a partir de una serie de propuestas individuales descontextualizadas del sistema industrial italiano y fueron el reflejo de las diversas etapas del movimiento vanguardista.
