Aerogels Based on Graphene Oxide with Addition of Carbon Nanotubes: Synthesis and Properties

Abstract:
Nowadays numerous sorbents based on graphene and other carbon nanomaterials have been synthesized for the removal or collecting of oil remains due to its unique physico-chemical properties. Obtaining of aerogels based on graphene oxide and carbon nanotubes with addition of chitosan solution as a binder
component is shown in this paper. Aerogels were synthesized by reduction of aqueous dispersion of graphene oxide using the reducing agents, followed by ultrasonic and thermal treatment. Ultr… Show more

“…The reason is the agglomeration of graphene layers, which adversely affects the adsorption and photocatalytic properties. The solution to this problem is described in [ 77 ], where graphene-based aerogel was used as an auxiliary material for TiO 2 [ 78 , 79 ]. Aerogel was obtained by thermal reduction of graphene oxide.…”

“…Combining the problem of recycling polymer waste and nanotechnology development has led to the improvement of areas related to waste recycling for the synthesis of nanomaterials, including carbon nanotubes. Carbon nanotubes have the prospect of application for obtaining various types of composite materials [4], flexible heating elements [5] and various other practical applications. Many factors impact on the synthesis of carbon nanomaterials from polymer waste, in particular, polyethylene: polymer type, polymer decomposition temperature, deposition time, presence of catalysts, the atmosphere in which the synthesis is carried out, etc.…”
