Advocacy: Global opportunities and responsibilities for psychologists.

Abstract

advocacy and various levels of action and organization through which global advocacy is undertaken, and (f) recommend practical steps and best practices for entering the world of global advocacy as psychologists. As we discuss, psychological advocacy within the global context covers a broad range of concerns and needs, including environmental degradation, climate change, systemic racism, organizational and societal governance, intergroup conflict and violence, health and mental health, decent work, and preparation for and recovery from disasters. Unfortunately, a sparse literature, combined with an insufficiently proactive stance by our accreditation, educational, and training systems, has had the net effect of underemphasizing all that we can and should do as psychology and psychologists to meet a world of need.
