The V, I, D, and S flags in the initial flags byte of a TRILL Generic Information TLV have the meanings specified in [RFC6823] but are not currently used, as TRILL operates as a Level 1 IS-IS area and no semantics are hereby assigned to the inclusion of an IPv4 and/or IPv6 address via the I and V flags. Thus, these I and V flags MUST be zero; however, if either or both are one, the space that should be taken by an IPv4 and/or IPv6 address, respectively, is skipped over and ignored.…”
