This study focused on the perceptions of Maritime faculty of the University of Saint Anthony, Iriga City Philippines, on the shift of traditional to online instruction since the pandemic in March 2020 to the present.It is a purely qualitative study, a case study to specific, that used coding as its method to interpret and analyze the data gathered from unstructured interviews of the selected faculty of the Maritime department. Further, the study identified the experiences and challenges that confronted the faculty members; thus, enabled the researchers to arrive at conclusions and render recommendations. The findings of the study showed that Maritime faculty experiences on online instruction were deeply rooted on practicality and accessibility. It is both refreshing and difficult to do accordingly. The challenges were mostly tied to resources and investments used by the faculty during online interaction. This study shall become a basis for the implementation of new policies in the department in terms of faculty development, materials development and formulation of teaching strategies.

Distance learning has been becoming the new learning systems for the universities which always deal with offline class during the coronavirus outbreak. In this paper, the researchers aimed to analyze the disadvantages in distance learning. This study examined the distant experiences through the Indonesian college students' points of view. The researchers used a qualitative research method. The research data were collected online through social media platforms i.e., Twitter and WhatsApp. They were in the forms of interviews in questionnaires related to students' experiences engaging in distance learning. The subjects were 55 college students from various universities in Indonesia. The results were (1) the disadvantages of distance learning wee various, (2) the obstacles that most experienced by the students were poor internet connection, and lack of internet data, and (3) the obstacles which they experienced led to the distance knowledge which really affected their learning processes. These conditions implicitly say that traditional classroom students have not been ready for the distance learning which brings them to distance knowledge and learning lost.

Developing Curriculum for Emergency Remote Learning Environments

Considering the issues triggered by COVID-19, remote learning was the only safe method to guarantee students could learn. The way instructors delivered information and interacted with students changed dramatically during COVID-19. Through the stress, pressure, and the emergency changes, professors had to choose the tools needed to provide the best teaching possible. It was necessary to create environments for the students to learn, to practice, and to apply the skills acquired. It was also necessary to entice some socialization during classes. Online classes require more autonomy, and if on the one hand students can learn on their own provided professors hand out some material, on the other hand it is difficult to control how their skills and knowledge evolve. The authors detail the methods used in their online classes (asynchronous or synchronous), the main concerns both instructors and students had, as well as the solutions found to meet those concerns as successfully as possible and to scaffold the learning process of their students at the School of Hospitality and Tourism of the Polytechnic of Porto.
