Advancing social justice as a part of educational leadership development

Abstract: We discuss beneficial uses of imaging technologies in higher education that advance social justice. Misuse and ineffectiveness of shared decision making, specifically as related to power relationships and the redistribution of decisionmaking authority, are addressed through the development of technologically delivered experiential simulations (ES). We outline ways in which ES can change higher education preparation programs to meet and adapt to the challenges of the future. ES entails using computer technology… Show more

“…In addition, computer-mediated communication has the potential to expand the participant base, increase open participation, and enhance the robustness of discussions (Burnett & Buerkle, 2004; Flanagin, Tityaamornwong, O’Connnor, & Seibold, 2002; Online Identity, 2006). Ultimately, a specific virtual delivery system and research tool (Brunner, Hitchon, & Brown, 2002) provided the setting for this safe, secure study. 6…”

“… 6. Experiential simulations is a safe research process designed by Brunner et al (2002) to provide comprehensive anonymity for participants. The technologically delivered safe-virtual laboratory allowed participants to interact anonymously with each other and the researchers through the use of three technology tools that were altered to maintain identity nondisclosure.…”
