Abstract:Photocatalytic technology is a sustainable, efficient, and eco‐friendly advanced oxidation process for addressing the hazards of microorganisms (bacteria and viruses). In this article, the latest results in the studies on the use of semiconductor photocatalysts to remove microorganisms and their related genes (DNA and RNA) from the environment, including operating conditions and removal efficiency, are summarized. The photocatalytic‐disinfection mechanism is described in detail, related to solar (especially ul… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
