Advances in multi-omics research on viral hepatitis

Abstract: Viral hepatitis is a major global public health problem that affects hundreds of millions of people and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Five biologically unrelated hepatotropic viruses account for the majority of the global burden of viral hepatitis, including hepatitis A virus (HAV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis D virus (HDV), and hepatitis E virus (HEV). Omics is defined as the comprehensive study of the functions, relationships and roles of various type… Show more

“…Metabolomics is one of the important components of system biology, which is the science of studying the type, quantity and change law of metabolites after an organism is perturbed ( Johnson et al., 2016 ; Wu et al., 2022b ). Metabolomics can reflect a series of biological events that occur in a pathophysiological process by revealing the trajectory of the overall metabolism under the influence of internal and external factors ( Tian et al., 2022 ; Xiang et al., 2022 ). Studying CI through metabolomics can reveal its molecular signature and elucidate potential pathological pathways in which diseases are disturbed ( Table 2 ).…”

“…Proteomics applications offer fresh approaches to HBV occurrence, development, and replication. 26 Modifications to the genome can lead to overexpression of proteins. In a small percentage of tumour samples, many recognised protein targets in HBV-related liver cancer are overexpressed, where their inhibition may be effective.…”

“…Liver is the largest solid organ in the body and plays an important role in the metabolic transformation and detoxification of food and drugs, so it is easily damaged by chemicals, alcohol, drugs and other substances. 87 Hepatitis is a major problem affecting public health and is receiving increasing attention. Early diagnosis and monitoring of the treatment process of hepatitis is important for its treatment and prognosis.…”
