Abstract: Coronary microembolization (CME) occurs in patients with acute coronary syndrome and is caused primarily by atherosclerotic plaque rupture associated with surgery. CME can lead to arrhythmias, decreased coronary blood flow reserve, and cardiac systolic dysfunction.
