Advanced Robot Programming: a Review

Abstract: Purpose of Review The review presents an overview of advanced robot programming approaches which aims to ease robot programming and speed up the deployment of industrial robots, and then some considerations are shared with respect to requirements in new trends of manufacturing. Recent Findings The new trend of customization along with Industry 4.0 is appearing which is a challenge for robotized systems. The bottleneck is mainly the efficiency of deployment of industrial robots because traditional programming m… Show more

“…The advantage of these methods is that the correspondence mapping function can be omitted because all demonstration steps are performed in the robot configuration space. Nevertheless, difficulty in obtaining smooth and effective trajectories is increased due to the complexity faced by the demonstrator in manipulating the body of the robot, especially in robotic systems with high degrees of freedom [24,26].…”

“…There is a worldwide effort to develop programming methods for industrial robots [ 37 , 38 , 39 ]. These methods can be divided into three groups [ 40 ]: online (non-text-based), offline (text-based, including graphical), hybrid (a combination of both methods).…”

“…Human-robot interaction (HRI) has made profilic use of augmented reality, as seen in recent review publications, such as in [14], which identifies a roadmap for the field. In the same way, in [15], a review of advanced robot programming approaches is presented where the authors explain the current augmented reality-based programming approaches.…”
