According to De Raeve et al. (2023), only 11 European countries declared that advanced practice nursing was the subject of legislative recognition and a specific training curriculum. France is a pioneer among French-speaking countries in recognizing advanced practice nursing roles (Colson, Muller, et al., 2021;Colson, Schwingrouber, et al., 2021). As a genuine public health issue, the development of advanced practice nursing has been a hot topic of political debate, generating a significant number of legislative and regulatory updates in just 5 years. Although France lags considerably behind Englishspeaking countries, recent advances can help overcome obstacles to the establishment and sustainability of these new roles, which are described in this article.
