Manufacturing processes involving chemical agents are evolving at great speed. In this context, managing chemical risk is especially important towards preventing both occupational accidents and major accidents. Directive 89/391/EEC and Directive 2012/18/EU, respectively, are enforced in the European Union (EU) to this end. These directives may be further complemented by the recent ISO 45001:2018 standard regarding occupational health and safety management systems. These three management systems are closely related. However, scientific literature tackles the researching of these accidents independently. Thus, the main objective of this work is to identify and analyse the links and transitional spaces between the risk management of both types of accident. Among the results obtained, three transitional spaces can be pointed out which result from the intersection of the three systems mentioned. Similarly, the intersection of these spaces gives shape to a specific transitional space defined by the individual directives linked to Directive 89/391/EEC. These results are limited from a regulatory and technical perspective. Thus, the results are a starting point towards developing models that integrate the management systems studied.

Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) encircles the deployment of innovative technologically-based practices to improve processes and products across various manufacturing industries. Advanced manufacturing technology covers process technologies that are used to produce cutting-edge technologies and process technologies associated with computer-integrated manufacturing, robotics and automation technology. Organisations that adopt AMT are characterised by the pace at which the deployment of innovative technologically-based practices is selected and implemented in order to improve the organisations' activities and end-products. Hence, some organisations are still struggling to implement AMT practices for improvement. Therefore, the following question needs to be researched: How well is the workforce equipped to embrace the implementation of AMT, and what are the critical factors and benefits of AMT? To answer this question, a conceptual framework was developed to mainly consider manufacturing organisations concerned with deploying the AMT in some of their activities, hoping to significantly improve processes and products, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction.

The Metaverse, a virtual world created by the internet's evolution, has blurred the lines between the physical and virtual worlds. Blockchain technology and digital twins have emerged as innovative solutions to this digital transformation. This chapter explores the synergy between blockchain technology and digital twins in healthcare data management within the Metaverse. The primary objective is to develop a privacy-aware biometric blockchain system that preserves, authenticates, and verifies healthcare data in real-time. This study pioneers a paradigm shift in healthcare data management, leveraging the transformative potential of the Metaverse. A comprehensive literature study was conducted to understand the evolution of the internet, blockchain technology, and digital twins. The results demonstrate the transformative potential of the proposed privacy preservation in metaverse healthcare data management.
