Advanced Dental Implant Placement Techniques

Abstract: The availability of in office Cone Beam CT (CBCT) scanners, dental implant planning software, CAD CAM milling, and rapid printing technologies allow for the precise placement of dental implants and immediate prosthetic temporization. These technologies allow for flapless implant placement, or open flap bone reduction for “All on 4” techniques with improved preoperative planning and intraoperative performance. CBCT permits practitioners in an office setting with powerful diagnostic capabilities for the evaluati… Show more

“…The computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) technology is used at the stage of prosthetic design and reconstruction, and in design and fabrication of the zirconia dental root analogue implants after tooth extraction [ 23 , 29 ]. The possibility of intraoral scanning of teeth as well as the surface of the oral cavity’s mucous membrane with the use of a 3D camera has been useful in the volumetric assessment of the results of gingival thickening after augmentation procedures [ 30 , 31 ].…”

“…28 Nevertheless, the help from the computer is huge in terms of the free positioning of implant objects on a 3D model, including the selection of the axial angle towards the bone. 29 It would be very useful if we could perform statistical testings of bone load, with implants placed as future dental bridge abutments.…”

“…Implant supported dentures have become a mainstream treatment in repairing dentition defects and deletions (Alkan et al, 2018; Greenberg, 2017). However, anodontia caused by serious decay, periodontal disease, congenital anodontia, and trauma may result in severe alveolar bone resorption, which can be a disadvantage of implantation.…”
